The Life and Legacy of Andrew Jackson

Welcome to Station Three!

Here at Station Three you are going to look at Andrew Jackson as a hero of the people.  As a young general, Andrew Jackson gained popularity for his role in the defeat of British forces in the War of 1812 at the Battle of New Orleans.  You'll get a sense of Washington society and elite at the time, and hear how a scandal plagued Jackson's first attempt to become President.  As a common man from humble roots, Jackson's second campaign rode a wave of popularity to win the White House.  From a firsthand account of his Inauguration, you'll see how Jackson's fellow common men turned the White House upside down to celebrate their hero of the people.  It turned into one of the wildest parties Washington had ever seen!!
