The Life and Legacy of Andrew Jackson

Welcome to Station Two!

Today, you will play the role of a modern day historian looking to analyze the policies and events during Andrew Jackson's presidency.  Search through primary source documents to see how a dispute with France nearly brought about conflict.  Discover the scandal that tested Jackson's presidency and made all of Washington blush!  Finally, examine the character with which Jackson tackled the question of state's rights.  Even as slaveholder from Tennessee, President Andrew Jackson firmly supported the strength of the Union during the Nullification Crisis.  From these examples, draw your own conclusions of what kind of a president Andrew Jackson was.
