The Life and Legacy of Andrew Jackson

Welcome to Station One!

Violence and love.  Both of these emotions had a strong effect on the life of Andrew Jackson.  Today at Station One, you are going to examine how violence in Jackson's early years would characterize him as an adult.  Jackson was famous for having a strong temper.  Find out how he reacted during an assassination attempt in 1835.  To contrast this violent behavior, Jackson is also presented as a man ready to defy the odds for love.  Learn about the controversy that surrounded Andrew Jackson and the love of his life, Rachel.  Understanding the violence and love in Andrew Jackson's life is an important key into his personality and insight into what makes him such a complicated figure.
